Please join me, along with my good friend and renowned yoga teacher, Bird, as we teach our 4th annual "Yoga For Hope" donation yoga class with live music by Meghan Cave.
There is no other cause closer to my heart and soul. The tragedy of heroin and now fentanyl is a world-wide crisis and we have the chance to make a difference.
Matthew Fischer will give a brief introduction to Evan Fischer Foundation followed by a one-hour yoga practice in memory of those who have lost the battle of addiction and also to send hope to those who are still fighting.
Evan Fischer died of a heroin overdose in 2011. Since then, his dad Matthew has worked tirelessly to provide supplemental funding for drug and alcohol treatment to families who cannot afford to send their teen or young adult on their own.
My own 23 year old son battled heroin addiction for more 8 years before he died in November of 2022. Our family was fortunate that we had the ability (with the help of both insurance and extended family) to cover the expense of six separate treatments. Many families do not have the resources for even one. Even though our efforts to save Sam didn't work, I believe the cause is still worth fighting for, just like Matthew.
The truth is, I have seen people get clean, even when it seemed unlikely. I have seen others go through treatment after treatment before they get it, if they get it. Recovery is hard but everyone deserves a chance, especially our younger generation.
Please donate directly at The Evan Fischer Foundation or Venmo to @angie-kennedy-25 and note "Yoga for Hope" on your tax deductible donation. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Our love, energy, and support matters.
